Abstract

This piece of work offers a brief perspective of what is taking place at the Autonomus University of Yucatan (UADY) concerning automatized information. While this does not seek to be considered among nor compared to the latest discoveries in telecommunication, it does demonstrate what is going on at our incipient information network. Its main objective purports to show how badly it is needed to attain a very close colaboration between the professionals of information and the professional librarians in order to achieve a common objective: the automation of the sources of information. Also, this essay describes the prevailing rol librarians should assume on the eve of the new century.
