The objective of this research was to correlate the creative capacity and the Ego functions of high school level students with the purpose of establishing means for human development. A non-probabilistic sample of 144 students with an average age of 16 was taken, 46.53 % males and 53.47% females. The Stimulus Sheet Form A (Duarte, 1994) and the Ego Functions Evaluation Scale (Bellak & Goldsmith, 1994) were used. A student t was performed in order to establish the differences in the gender variables, and a Pearson product-moment correlation was carried out for the analysis of the relationship among those variables. The results showed that: (a) gender has no influence in creativity; (b) gender has influence on three of the Ego functions; (c) in terms of the global scores, only flexibility correlates with adaptative regression at the service of Ego; (d) the relationship that takes place at the low, medium-low, and high levels of creativity and Ego functions is clear inasmuch as both elements lean on various of their indicators; and (e) at the medium-high level of creativity and Ego functions, the relationship is paradoxical since the indicators that correlated hinder their own development.
