Abstract

The study of moral/values education is receiving increasing attention worldwide, as many people feel that their nation's youth are not receiving adequate instruction in the basic values that should guide and direct their nation (Cumming, 1988; Pratte, 1988). These concerns become more complex as all nations move toward a "global society." This particular article offers the result of a preliminary study of values in Indonesia. The study of values in Indonesia is particularly interesting because it is a developing nation in Southeast Asia that has been very successful in providing political stability and social and economic progress.
